About
From a young age, Elise Nuckols found joy in both nature and art. Her passion for creativity and expression led her to the College of Charleston, where she discovered her love for painting. It was there that she met influential professors who provided the foundational tools to pursue her artistic ambitions. She graduated in 2007 with a BA in Fine Art, focusing on oil painting.
Elise draws her greatest inspiration from the interplay of light and color and how they are shaped by form and atmosphere. The Charleston Lowcountry, with its ever-changing beauty, serves as an endless source of inspiration for her landscapes. She is captivated by how the same stretch of marshland or row of live oaks can transform dramatically from one hour to the next, revealing a different mood or emotion each time.
Working primarily in oils, Nuckols creates her evocative paintings in her home studio in Charleston, South Carolina, where she lives with her husband Chris, their daughter Daphne, and their two dogs, Bear and Lucy.
