In downtown Charleston (next to the Historic Rice Mill and City Marina) there is a great little local's spot called The Marina Variety Store. It sits above a dive bar called Salty Mike's (which was THE place to be in college on a Wednesday night, not sure if it still is), and looks out over the Ashley River with views from the Coast Guard station all the way back to the James Island Connector. Most Sunday mornings, you can find us there for breakfast- their Crab Cake Egg's Benedict is worth the hype.
The day I took this photo, we were there for dinner- and the sun had set the whole sky on fire as it sunk below the horizon. I couldn't believe the array of pinks and corals of the sky, and the contrast against those smaller blue rain clouds was spectacular. I snapped this from the parking lot facing the James Island Connector and the Rice Mill.
This is an original piece created with acrylic paint and Neo-Color crayons on a birch wood panel. The sides are painted white and it is signed by Elise. Colors may vary slightly in person and all paintings are shipped via UPS from Charleston, South Carolina
