I painted this piece on site last Summer at a public fishing dock on the Ashley River (just below Charlestown Landing, and across the river from the Citadel). It was mid July, and SO HOT, with barely any breeze. I was so envious of all of the boaters that kept going by- though their wake was really fun to paint. As it got into the late afternoon I could see that the puffy white clouds on the horizon had started to darken- and the afternoon thunderstorms that are so common here in the summer were starting to build up over Summerville.
The funniest thing was that through the day little groups of men kept coming down to fish- and they all had helpful advice for me on what I should do next in the painting, it was too funny. One guy even offered to paint in some houses for me (he didn't approve of my decision to leave them out)- I loved it.
This is an original piece created with acrylic paint and Neo-Color crayons on a birch wood panel. The sides are painted white and it is signed by Elise. Colors may vary slightly in person and all paintings are shipped via UPS from Charleston, South Carolina
